SUMMARY:Independence Fire & Ice Cook-Off
DESCRIPTION:Registration is open for the annual "Fire & Ice Cook-off" in Independence.  \nEntries will be judged in chicken\, ribs\, brisket\, beans\, margaritas\, chef's choice and a steak shootout.\n\nFirst place in the steak shootout will win $1\,000\, sponsored by Southern Star Trucking and Brenham Iron Works.  Second place will receive a $500 prize courtesy of Cattleman's Brenham Livestock Auction.  Third place will get $250\, sponsored of Schulte Cattle Company.  Cash prizes will also be presented in the other categories.\n\nTeam registration for chicken\, ribs\, brisket and beans is $100 before Friday\, going up to $125 after that.
